Laura Ingalls Wilder Day

Today was Washington Township 3rd grade Laura Ingalls Wilder Day to celebrate our unit studies on Laura, pioneers, and native americans.

We started our day by preparing our lunch.  We had six different groups: cornbread, applesauce, fruit salad, butter, gingerbread, and bread.

After making food we began our craft stations.  The stations were: log cabins, weaving and paper dolls, quilting, and tin punch.

After doing our craft stations we had PE.  We played pioneer games.  Our favorite game played was Drop the Handkerchief, which is very similar to Duck, Duck, Goose.

Then we ate our lunch.  Martha, our cook, made minestrone soup and porridge.  We ate the cornbread, butter, fruit salad, and gingerbread that we made earlier.  All the food was DELICIOUS!

After lunch we listened to Mrs. Casper's presentation on the life of Laura Ingalls Wilder.

After the presentation we ate our snack of applesauce and bread and butter that we made in the morning.

We finished our day with pictures so we will remember all the fun we had for years to come!

A special thanks goes out to all the parent volunteers, our day was successful because of you!  Thanks to Jason, Nicole, Kim, Clara, Dena, Ruth, Amanda, Darvin, Jonas, Shelley, Angie, Heather, Haley, Moria, Amy, Alissa, and Jessica.

Also, I would like to thank Mrs. Casper for helping me through my first Laura Ingalls Wilder Day!  I couldn't have done it without you!
