Contraction Surgery

We have been studying contractions this week in Language Arts.  Today we were surgeons who operated on words to create contractions.  We were were dressed for the part with masks and gloves.  We were also equipped with our tools: scalpel (scissors), stitches (tape), and bandages (band-aids).  Each group took turns assisting during surgery.  Students carefully cut away letters that were not needed, stitched the word back together, and finally bandaged the word up using the band-aid the apostrophe.  We LOVED this lesson!  I foresee many future doctors and surgeons!
